About Hon. Jeffrey A. Goffinet
Judge Jeffrey A. Goffinet currently sits on the major civil docket in Williamson County, IL. He practiced law in southern Illinois for 31 years as a civil litigator. He holds a BS with High Honors in Journalism, a BA with High Honors in Political Science, and a JD Cum Laude from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
Judge Goffinet served as the vice-chair of the Illinois Supreme Court Trial Court Administrators Education Committee and was co-chair of the Illinois Supreme Court Task Force on artificial intelligence. He served as adjunct faculty at the Southern Illinois University School of Law teaching classes on pretrial and trial advocacy. He has taught multiple courses at EdCon, the Illinois judges’ education conference, on digital evidence and civil trials.
Most recently, Judge Goffinet has presented courses on generative artificial intelligence and its impact on the judicial system at the Chicago Bar Association AI2030 conference as a keynote speaker; at the State of Illinois Circuit Clerks conference, Illinois Probation Conference, Conference of the Chief Judges of the Northernmost Circuits (Illinois); the ISBA Allerton Conference, Jackson County Bar Joint CLE, and multiple others.
