Defense of an ARDC Complaint is an additional coverage of your ISBA Mutual Policy. ISBA Mutual will provide up to $25,000 to investigate and defend an ARDC Complaint brought against an insured lawyer. If you are made aware of an ARDC Complaint, contact our Claims Department immediately and we will help you navigate the complexities of appropriately responding so that you can move forward with confidence.
When should I report an ARDC Complaint or disciplinary action?
Contact us as soon as you are notified of an ARDC Complaint or other disciplinary action. The ARDC prefers that lawyers who received complaints use counsel rather than respond personally.
How do I report an ARDC Complaint or other disciplinary action?
Complete our Notice of Potential Claim, Claim, Suit, ARDC or Subpoena, print it out and submit along with all correspondence and relevance documents to firstname.lastname@example.org, fax to 312-379-2049, or mail to:
20 South Clark Street
Chicago, IL 60603-1826
The Claims Department can be reached at 312-379-2000.
What do I need to include in my written notice of an ARDC Complaint or other disciplinary action?
Although your telephone call is important, you must provide us with written notice of an ARDC complaint or other disciplinary action. E-mail, fax, or mail your completed Claim or Incident Report (which we use for reporting ARDC complaints and other disciplinary actions) or provide the following information:
- A copy of the letter notifying you of the complaint or disciplinary action
- The damage or injury that has or may result
- The identity of the claimants
- The date when you first became aware of the underlying issue
- A summary of the circumstance giving rise to the complaint or disciplinary action
