But we’re more than just another insurance company. We are committed to elevating the practice of law by supporting the Illinois State Bar Association and local bar associations to help them provide educational and networking opportunities lawyers be their best. That’s also why we provide our own risk management resources, including MCLE, our Liability Minute newsletter, guides, letters and forms and our Risk Management Consultations for our insureds.

Some History

ISBA Mutual Insurance Company was founded in 1988 by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) to offer Illinois lawyers access to professional liability insurance with fair and stable premiums and solid coverage. Prior to that, commercial insurance companies offered legal malpractice insurance policies, but they came with costly and prohibitive premium increases.
